Abstract: A method for the treatment, especially conditioning, of human hair which confers on the hair improved handle, volume and gloss and firmly holds the hair style is characterised in that a first composition (A) which contains about 0.1 to about 5% by weight of at least one anionic and/or amphoteric polymer is applied to the hair and, after acting at elevated temperature, preferably at about 30 to about 55 DEG C, for, preferably, about 10 to 30 minutes, without previous rinsing, another composition (B) which contains about 0.2 to about 5% by weight of at least one long-chain quaternary ammonium compound is applied and, after acting for a short time, about 5 to 10 minutes, at room temperature, the hair is rinsed.

Abstract: Aq. conditioning compsn. for human hair comprises (a) at least one salt which releases, in aq. medium, 0.1-5.0 wt.% (based on the total compsn.) of calcium-, magnesium and/or zinc ions; and (b) 0.5-50 wt.% (based on the total compsn.) of at least one cpd. selected from 2-4C alkanediols (and their methyl and ethyl ethers), benzylalcohol, benzyloxyethanol, phenoxyethanol or cinnamic alcohol. The compsn. has a pH or 2.5-7. The compsn. contains enough of (a) to release 0.5-3.0 wt.% of calcium-, magnesium- and zinc cations. The amt. of component (b) is 1-30 wt.%. The compsn. also contains an organic acid, esp. lactic acid, and has a pH of 3-6. USE/ADVANTAGE - The compsn. can be applied as an aq. soln., lotion, emulsion, dispersion, gel or aerosol. It may also be in the form of a two component compsn.. The compsn. has improved conditioning effect and gives hair with good shine, elasticity and volume.
