Abstract: A cutting toolholder assembly for holding a cutting tool (26) used in a material removal operation. The assembly comprises a locking component which contains a bore (32) with at least one recess (34) therein. The assembly also includes a tool holding component (24) with a shank (48) whereby the bore receives the shank. The shank contains a compartment (50) with a locking assembly within the compartment. The locking assembly includes at least one locking member (56) and a positioner assembly (58) that selectively positions the locking member into engagement with its corresponding recess. The recess corresponds to the shape of the locking member such that when the locking member engages the recess, the recess restrains the locking member so that there is essentially no movement between the holder component and the locking component during a material removal operation.

Abstract: Ensemble porte-outils servant à porter un outil coupant (26) utilisé pour une opération de suppression de matériau. Ledit ensemble comprend un élément de verrouillage contenant un perçage (32) pourvu d'au moins un creux (34). L'ensemble comprend également un élément de support d'outils (24) comportant une tige (48) logeant dans le perçage. La tige contient un compartiment (50) dans lequel est logé un ensemble de verrouillages. L'ensemble de verrouillages comprend au moins un élément de verrouillage (56) et un élément de positionnement (58) positionant sélectivement l'élément de verrouillage, afin qu'il s'introduise dans le creux correspondant. Le creux corresponds à la forme de l'élément de verrouillage, de façon que, quand ledit élément de verrouillage s'introduit dans le creux, celui-ci fixe l'élément de verrouillage, de manière qu'il n'y est sensiblement aucun jeu entre l'élément de support et l'élément de verrouillage pendant l'opération de suppression de matériau.
