The invention relates to a method for modernizing the hoisting function of an elevator with machine room provided with hoisting ropes (4), wherein the suspension (1) of the elevator is changed in connection with modernization to a 4:1 suspension. The rope suspension (1) is provided with at least two diverting pulleys (7, 12), around which the hoisting rope (4) is passed in such manner that, in the running direction of the hoisting rope (4), the first diverting pulley (7) is between diverting pulleys (6) and (S) connected to the counterweight (3), and that, in the running direction of the hoisting rope (4), the second diverting pulley (12) is between diverting pulleys (11) and (13) connected to the elevator car (2). In addition, diverting pulleys (7, 12) are attached to an adjusting element (17), by means of which the angle of the plane of rotation of the diverting pulley can be adjusted.

The invention relates to a method for allocation for elevators in elevator systems, comprising the steps: identifying at least one passenger 10, 11, 13; searching for the group or the groups the at least one passenger is assigned to in an internal database or assigning the at least one passenger to a group or to groups, where the assignment is based on information of an internal database; and calling an elevator car 1, 2 for this at least one passenger and assigning to this elevator car the destination F10 of one group the at least one passenger is assigned to. The invention further relates to elevator systems that are designed to execute this method.

The invention relates to an elevator having a safety controller (10) to which several safety switch arrangements (20-28) are connected, which safety controller is configured to cause the stop of the elevator motor (14) and the activation of the motor brakes (16), in the safety controller (10) a comparator (32) is provided for the determination of the status of the safety chain, which comparator is connected with a memory (34) for storing at least one resistor reference value, which comparator is configured to output a safety chain status signal in dependence of comparison of a measured resistance value with the resistor reference value. Each of said safety switch arrangements comprises at least one first resistor (38) and a safety switch (36) which are connected in series, the value of the first resistor (38) is different in at least some safety switch arrangements (20-28), preferably in all safety switch arrangements, and each safety switch arrangement (20-28) comprises at least a second resistor (40) connected in parallel with the safety switch (36), which second resistor has a higher value than the first resistor (38). The invention allows the detection of a short circuit as well as of the opening of a safety switch arrangement.
