Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the method for selectively dividing a video object by which optimal video object is divided corresponding to characteristics of an inputted moving video (moving image). SOLUTION: This method for selectively dividing video object which is applied for a device for operating and processing a moving video by object units comprises a first step 202 for allowing a user to select a block having the same characteristics in a moving video sequence (moving image column) in which a video object should be divided, a second step 203 for allowing the user to select the division system of the video object for most efficiently utilizing the characteristics of the moving video which is present in the block selected by the first step, and third steps 204-207 for dividing the video object by using the video object division system selected by the second step in the moving video sequence block selected by the first step.
