Abstract: A base station 100 provides communications services via one of a plurality of interfaces 111-113, 121-123, each supporting a different communications protocol, in consideration of user terminal information (e.g. protocols supportable), interface information (e.g. capacity and interference) and quality information. The base station 100 comprises an interface unit 110, 120 that includes the plurality of interfaces 111-113, 121-123 supporting the different communications protocols, a control unit 130 that selects one of the plurality of interfaces and controls the connection of user terminals and the selected interface 132, and a core network connection unit 140 that connects the interface selected by the control unit 130 to a wired network. Both mobile communications interfaces 111-113, supporting different mobile communications protocols (e.g. wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA), long term evolution (LTE), worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX), and wireless broadband (WiBro)), and wireless communications interfaces 121-123, supporting different wireless communications protocols (e.g. wireless local area network (WLAN), and Bluetooth), may be provided.
