PURPOSE: A software update method in a cable network and apparatus thereof are provided to reduce bandwidth for updating software and software update time by updating additional software modules. CONSTITUTION: An OLT(Optical Line Terminal) notifies a software update starting point to an ONU(Optical Network Unit)(S510). The ONU notifies the size of a window which receives ME(Management Entity) to OLT(S520). The OLT downloads modified ONU software to the ONU(S530). The OLT notifies the activation of the updated software to the ONU after the download of the modified ONU software is completed(S540).
Abstract:
PURPOSE: An OAM(Operation, Administration, and Maintenance) message transmission method in a PON(Passive Optical Network) system and error processing method are provided to simplify an OAM message transmission and reception procedure by using an OAM packet type including a variable length. CONSTITUTION: An OLT(Optical Line Terminal) transmits created OAM messages to an ONU(Optical Network Unit). The OLT receives a response OAM message from the ONU(S502). The created OAM message includes a message identifier for one or more ethernet switching control creation messages, message content lengths, and a message content field. The created OAM message includes the message identifier, the message content lengths, and the message content field for one or more ethernet switching control response messages.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: A method for filtering an abnormal ONT with same serial number in a GPON system is provided to authenticate the registration of a subscribed optical subscriber device and block out the registration of the non-subscribed optical subscriber device. CONSTITUTION: An ONT(Optical Network Terminal)(20) performs the encoding and decoding of a PLOAM(Physical Layer OAM) of a registered-related frame based on an allocated open key according to optical network subscription. An OLT(Optical Line Terminal)(10) performs the decoding or encoding of the PLOAM of the frame from the keys allocated from the outside or the optical subscription device through the created key. According to the encoding and the decoding results, the optical circuit terminal process registration authentication of the optical subscriber device.
