Disclosed are a method and a system for converting a multi-channel audio signal. The multi-channel audio signal converting system may comprise: an output position checking unit for checking an output position for each channel of an output multi-channel audio signal and an input multi-channel audio signal; a signal allocation unit which allocates a channel signal of an input channel to an output channel when output positions of the input and output channels are the same in the output and input multi-channel audio signals; a signal distribution unit which distributes the channel signal of the input multi-channel audio signal to two channels of the output multi-channel audio signal which are closest to a channel of the input multi-channel audio signal; and a channel signal calculation unit which calculates a signal for each channel of the output multi-channel audio signal on the basis of channel signals respectively allocated or distributed to channels of the output multi-channel audio signal.

Provided is a method and apparatus for encoding/decoding a multi-channel audio signal. The apparatus for encoding a multi-channel audio signal includes a frame converter for converting the multi-channel audio signal into a framed audio signal; means for downmixing the framed audio signal; means for encoding the downmixed audio signal; a source location information estimator for estimating source location information from the framed multi-channel audio signal; means for quantizing the estimated source location information; and means for multiplexing the encoded audio signal and the quantized source location information, to generate an encoded multi-channel audio signal.

Disclosed are an apparatus and method for window processing for connecting between an MDCT frame and a heterogeneous frame, an encoding apparatus and encoding method, and a decoding apparatus and decoding method. The window processing method involves applying, to the MDCT frame, a window for interconnection between the MDCT frame and a frame having no aliasing term, so as to satisfy TDAC conditions for the recovery of an original signal.

Abstract:
An apparatus and method for representing a three-dimensional (3D) sound field, based on a velocity vector of an acoustic particle is disclosed. A transfer function S610, based on a velocity vector of an acoustic particle and a sound source strength of the acoustic particle, is generated. A cost function S620 is generated based on a target velocity vector and a represented velocity vector. A set of loudspeaker input signals S630 are then generated that minimizes the cost function based on the transfer function, which aims to prevent the generation of an excessive output. Generation of the transfer function may comprise generating a transfer function matrix based on the radial component of the velocity vector, evaluated at control points arranged on a control circle or sphere with variable radius with respect to an excitation frequency.
