    Abstract: A leather-like sheet material is manufactured by forming a nonwoven fibrous mat of mixed-spun fibers consisting of at least two polymeric materials, impregnating the mat with a liquid which is a solvent for at least one of the polymeric materials but is a non-solvent for the other polymeric materials and dissolving out at least one of the polymeric materials, and coagulating the resulting polymer solution with another liquid which is a nonsolvent for all of the polymeric materials constituting initially the fibers but is at least partially miscible with the liquid used for the prior impregnation of the mat into a porous polymeric structure.

    Abstract: A fiber entanglement is provided which is characterized in that it is a three-dimensional entanglement integratedly composed of elastic fibers (A) each being a fine-denier fiber bundle or having a porous fiber structure as seen on a fiber cross section with a number of irregular-shaped pores extending in the fiber axis direction, nonshrinkable, nonelastic fibers (B) and shrinkable, nonelastic fibers (C), that the fibers A are at least partly bonded or fused together at points of contact with one another and bring about a taut condition, that the nonshrinkable, nonelastic fibers B are folded several times over by means of the elastic fibers A and shrinkable, nonelastic fibers C. This fiber entanglement is useful as a base material for leather-like sheet materials.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain easily a laminated sheetlike material which is lowly tearable and can be biaxially stretched by a conventional melt molding process, by discharging a molten mixed stream of at least two incompatible polymers differing from each other in melt flow properties at the same temperature from the same die. CONSTITUTION:At least two incompatible polymers comprising polymer A high in temperature dependency of melt flow properties and polymer B low in said temperature dependency are mixed together, and the resulting mixture is melt-kneaded under such conditions that polymer A forms a sea component. The molten mixture is molded by discharging it in sheet form under such conditions that polymer A undergoes phase reversion to an island component to obtain a laminated sheetlike material in which the dispersion state of an internal layer part (2) is such that polymer A is a sea component and polymer B is an island component, and the dispersion state of an external layer part (1) is such that polymer A is reversed to an island component and polymer B is reversed to a sea component, and the boundary C between the internal and external layers (2) and (1) in a section vertical to the sheet surface is irregular and nonlinear. A plurality of these sheetlike materials are optionally laminate-molded, and one of the polymer components is removed from the product.
