PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a silicate ester composition which is excellent in sustained releasability and contains little amount of a dimer impurity, and in which a large amount of an aroma chemical is bonded, and to provide the silicate ester composition.SOLUTION: The method for producing a silicate ester composition comprises steps (1) and (2) mentioned below. The step (1) comprises removing water-content from an aroma chemical that is a primary alcohol. The step (2) comprises mixing the aroma chemical obtained in the step (1) and a tetraalkoxysilane having 1-3C alkoxy groups so that the molar ratio of the aroma chemical to the tetraalkoxysilane becomes 3.7 to 10, then reacting them in the presence of a basic substance, and removing formed alcohols having 1 to 3 carbon atoms.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide complex mesoporous silica particles capable of homogeneously volatilizing not less than two kinds of functional substances, and to provide a method of homogeneously volatilizing not less than two kinds of functional substances.SOLUTION: The complex mesoporous silica particles includes mesoporous silica particles (A), and a composition (B) containing not less than two kinds of functional substances wherein 80-100 mass% of the composition (B) is contained inside the mesoporous silica particles (A). The method of homogeneously volatilizing functional substances includes volatilizing at least two kinds of functional substances contained in the composition (B) from the complex mesoporous silica particles.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide, as a method for manufacturing a silicic acid ester composition useful as a perfume precursor, a method for manufacturing a silicic acid ester composition capable of efficiently obtaining a scarcely colored silicic acid ester composition.SOLUTION: The provided method for manufacturing a silicic acid ester composition is a method for manufacturing, by transesterifying (A) an alcohol having a boiling point of 150 to 250°C and a silane possessing alkoxy groups derived from (B) an alcohol having a boiling point of below 100°C, a silicic acid ester composition including a silane possessing alkoxy groups derived from the alcohol (A) wherein the transesterifying reaction is induced so as to satisfy the following conditions (1) through (3): conditions (1): that the feeding molar ratio of the alcohol (A) with respect to the silane (alcohol (A)/silane) is 1/1-7/1 and that the transesterifying reaction is induced in the presence of a basic compound; condition (2): that, in a case where the content of the alcohol (A) within the reaction mixture is at least 15 mass%, the reaction is induced under conditions unaccompanied by ebullition; and condition (3): that, in a case where no more than 1.5 alkoxy groups derived from the alcohol (B) are bonded, on the average, with respect to a silicon atom, the reaction is induced at or below 40 kPa.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide hollow silica particles having a micropore structure having an average pore diameter of less than 1 nm, and to provide a method for manufacturing the particles. SOLUTION: (1) The hollow silica particles show, in a powder X-ray diffraction measurement, at least one peak at a diffraction angle (2θ) corresponding to 1 to 10 nm crystal lattice plane distance (d), and no peak at a diffraction angle (2θ) corresponding to less than 1 nm of crystal lattice spacing (d); and the outer shell part of the particle includes a micropore structure having an average pore diameter of less than 1 nm. (2) The method for manufacturing the hollow silica particles includes a step of subjecting hollow silica particles (A) having a meso-porous structure of an average pore diameter of 1 to 10 nm in the outer shell part to a treatment with a silane compound (B) or to a firing process at 700 to 950°C.
