Abstract: PURPOSE: To retain correct eartking by forming pivot detents in a shielding cover of an electric connector by punching and surely contacting a cover tub of a shielding member which a connector shell in the case of complete closing. CONSTITUTION: A lip 62 of a shield 22 is extended between an inner rim of a flange 44 and a tail part of a dielectric housing through a slot space in an aperture 44 and hooked in a recessed part 45 in a rear part shell 18. Then, a shielding member is set closer to the cable side until pivot detents 58, 60 contact with a dielectric housing 27. The height of the insertion space, effective thickness of the shielding metal, and the height of supporting point detect are so set as to bring a tine 62 of the shield 22 into contact with the shell 18 for pivot detents and prevent further downward rotation of the shield 22.
