Abstract: Wheel weight assemblies are provided in which a weight member (212) is mounted on a clip member (211) for attachment to the rim of a vehicle wheel, with the clip and weight members being substantially encased in an injection moulded housing. The weight member (212) may be composed of a plurality of individual plate elements. Spacing elements such as end caps (250) may be used to hold the plate elements together and locate them in the mould tool to ensure their correct positioning during the moulding process.

Abstract: An ingot feeding apparatus is provided for a diecasting machine. The apparatus comprises means (13) for feeding an ingot (16) into a bath of molten metal for use in the diecasting process, means for detecting the level of the molten metal in the bath, and means for operating the ingot feeding means in response to signals from the level detecting means. Abstract: An ingot feeding apparatus 10 for a diecasting machine comprises a carriage 13 for feeding an ingot 16 into a bath (11, Fig. 2) of molten metal for use in the diecasting process, sensors for detecting the level of molten liquid in the bath and a processing unit (26, Fig. 2) for operating the carriage in response to signals from the level detecting sensors. The level detecting sensors comprises a surface sensor (22, Fig. 2) that measures the temperature in the bath above the surface of the molten liquid therein. Preferably, the processing unit additionally operates the carriage in response to temperature measured by a sub-surface sensor (23, Fig. 2) in the body of molten liquid in the bath. The carriage may also comprise a carriage mounted sensor 24 for measuring temperature in the bath and which can also provide an indication of the proximity of the carriage to the surface of molten liquid in the bath.

Abstract: A casting machine for insert moulding comprises a mould tool 11 having a plurality of parts, at least one of which is moveable between an engaged position (Fig. 1), ready for a casting operation, and a retracted position where the tool is open (Figures 3 and 4). The machine further comprises a mechanism for loading an insert (12, Fig. 2) into the tool. The insert loading operation is arranged to take place whilst the moveable part of the tool is in its retracted position. To place the insert in the mould tool prior to casting, the machine comprises a feed track (14, Fig. 2) to carry a supply of inserts, a mechanism (15, Fig. 2) to pick up individual inserts from the feed track and a head (16, Fig. 2) to transfer the insert into the mould tool. In use, when parts 11a-11d of the mould tool are in their retracted position an insert is loaded and clamped. The tool parts 11a-11d are then all moved back into their engaged position in readiness for the next casting operation.
