    Abstract: A method of detecting noise of a compressed image signal using a quantization factor is provided to detect a noise value included in an image and a noise direction in consideration of spatial correlation and temporal correlation of quantization factors to improve picture quality deterioration caused by image compression. A block is divided into predetermined angles(S210). K neighboring quantization factors are one-dimensionally arranged, and a variation between neighboring quantization factors is obtained(S220). An average of the sum of quantization factor variations is obtained, and the largest value of the variations is selected(S230). When the selected value is greater than a threshold value(S240), it is determined that spatial noise exists in the corresponding direction(S250).
