    Abstract: The present invention relates to a front load-type washing machine and a washing machine control method, which comprises a mixing step of performing washing by rotating a drum in opposite directions if the amount of laundry accommodated in the drum is less than or equal to a preset amount, wherein the mixing step comprises: a first rotating step of rotating, in an acceleratory manner, the drum until a preset target rotating speed is reached, and then rotating same at the target rotating speed, and rotating the drum in a first direction up to a preset one-directional rotating angle; and a second rotating step of rotating, in an acceleratory manner, the drum until the target rotating speed is reached, and then rotating same at the target rotating speed, and rotating the drum in a second direction opposite to the first direction up to the one-directional rotating angle, wherein the first rotating step and the second rotating step are alternately repeated such that a washing motion is performed with improved washing performance and reduced wear on laundry.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for controlling a washing machine which has at least three lifters inside a drum, the method comprising: a step in which the at least three lifters are positioned on the outside of a first region including a drum bottom portion positioned on the vertically lower side of a rotational center of the drum, and the laundry is positioned in the first region; a first rotation step of rotating the drum at least once in a first direction such that any one lifter among the at least three lifters is positioned in the first region and the laundry is positioned on the lifter positioned in the first region; and a second rotation step of rotating the drum at least once in a second direction opposite to the first direction such that the at least three lifters are positioned on the outside of the first region and the laundry is positioned in the first region, wherein the first rotation step and the second rotation step are alternately repeated. Thereby, the washing machine and the method for controlling the washing machine perform washing motions which enhance the washing performance and reduce abrasion of the laundry.
