A dryer includes a drum including a drum body, a front cover, a rear cover, and a drum inlet penetrating through the front cover and communicating with the inside of the drum body, a fixing panel provided at a position apart from the rear cover, a motor including a stator fixed to the fixing panel and a rotor rotated by the stator, a hollow housing fixed to the fixing panel, a first shaft having one end fixed to the rotor and the other end provided with a driving gear located inside the housing, a second shaft having one end provided with a driven gear located inside the housing and the other end penetrating through the fixing panel and fixed to the rear cover, and a plurality of interlocking gears provided rotatably in the housing and transmitting a rotational force of the driving gear to the driven gear.

Disclosed are a method for diagnosing a clothes treating apparatus, and a clothes treating apparatus having a refrigerant leakage detecting means. In a clothes treating apparatus comprising a drum configured to accommodate therein an object to be dried, an air suction means configured to form a flow path of air introduced into the drum, an air exhaustion means configured to form a flow path of air exhausted from the drum, a condenser disposed to heat air sucked into the drum through the air suction means, an evaporator disposed to cool air exhausted from the drum through the air exhaustion means, and a compressor and an expander configured to constitute a heat pump together with the condenser and the evaporator, the method includes a temperature detection step of detecting a temperature change of air passing through the condenser or the air suction means, and a determination step of determining that refrigerant leakage has occurred when a temperature decrease amount measured in the temperature detection step is more than a predetermined level.
