The present application relates to providing information for managing reproduction of video data, comprising a provision of linking information for associating additional information with the video data, the linking information being used for identifying the additional information associated with the video data, and the additional information being describing the video data; and a provision of an indicator for indicating whether the additional information exists in a stream including at least a portion of the linking information. The indicator hereby includes one of a first indicator value indicating that the additional information associated with the video data exists in the stream and a second indicator value indicating that the additional information associated with the video data does not exist in the stream. Further, a single additional information is capable of being associated with plural video data or plural additional information are capable of being associated with a single video data.

A file structure comprising plural directories is disclosed, wherein a first directory (PLAYLIST) includes playlist files, a second directory (CLIPINF) includes clip information files and a third directory (STREAM) includes stream files. Each playlist file contains a plurality of playitems. Attribute information is recorded in each playitem, said attribute information including a coding mode. Furthermore, a recording medium comprising the file structure, and a method and an apparatus for recording the same are disclosed.

The present invention relates to a method of recording still pictures onto a recording medium. The present method records still pictures onto a recording medium in a DCF (Design rule for Camera File system) structure defined for a digital still camera or in a file structure defined for a digital video recorder, creates management information to access the recorded still pictures, and writes the management information in management information fields specified in a digital video recorder. Referring to the management information, a desired still picture or desired still pictures can be found easily and rapidly among numerous still pictures recorded on a recording medium.

The present invention writes location information on representative audio sections, each being specified within an audio track by a user, for audio tracks recorded in a high-capacity storage medium, and, if requested, reproduces representative audio sections only using the written location information, thereby helping a user find a desirable audio track easily and quickly among a lot of recorded audio tracks.

The method comprises initializing at least a first playback engine of an enhanced navigation device, when an enhanced navigation mode is selected; entering a first playback state for at least the first playback engine, when an enhanced navigation engine preloads navigation information; and controlling media playback operations, in response to user interaction with a user interface of the enhanced navigation device; wherein the enhanced navigation engine controls a plurality of playback states based on the user interaction with a plurality of user interfaces of the enhanced navigation device.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of grouping still pictures recorded on a recording medium for the purpose of efficient management. The present method records still pictures onto a recording medium, groups the recorded still pictures based on their attributes and attributes of recorded audio data associated with respective still pictures, creates management information about each still-picture group, and writes the group management information onto the recording medium. Owing to the recorded group management information, a user can find easily and rapidly many still pictures on a recording medium that have been obtained in same photographing condition.

The present invention relates to a recording medium containing moving picture data and additional information thereof and to reproducing method and apparatus of the recording medium. The present recording medium has script files including additional information about moving picture data, e.g., scene descriptive text and introduction of characters, etc. In addition, information linking each script file with a section of moving picture data to be presented with contents of the script file is included in a link data file or is contained in a filename of the script file. In reproduction of the recording medium, a script file linked with presently reproduced moving picture data section is determined and searched for based on the link data file or every filename of the script files, and contents of the found script file are presented together with the presently reproduced moving picture data. Furthermore, previously presented additional information is removed depending on data or filename of the found script file.
