Abstract: Disclosed is a laundry treatment apparatus comprising a tub; a drum disposed within the tub and configured to accommodate laundry therein, the drum being made of a metal material; and an induction module arranged on an outer peripheral surface of an upper portion of the tub and configured to heat the drum via induction using a magnetic field. The induction module is configured to be turned on based on a rotational speed of the drum reaching a threshold revolutions per minute (RPM) after the drum starts to rotate, and to be turned off the induction module based on the rotational speed of the drum falling to less than the threshold RPM.
