    Abstract: The method is used to control the degree of fullness of a container of fluid. Using an optical sensor (4) the fullness (9) is compared with a control height. When the fullness (9) is below the control height more fluid is added to the container (2) until the fullness (9) reaches the control height. The method may be used to determine the level of wet chemical in an electrochemical cell to determine the oxygen content in gases. The optical sensor (4) may be provided with an optical transmitter and receiver. The light path between the transmitter and receiver depends on the fill level (9). Preferably the control height lies between a minimum and a maximum fill level limit for the container.

    Abstract: Carbon dioxide, as the inert gas, is introduced into the vessel (6) at a temperature above its critical temperature and to a pressure above its critical pressure. Next, the carbon dioxide is removed from the vessel by flushing with carbon dioxide at a supercritical temperature.
