Abstract:
Oil based drilling fluids (muds) that include clays can be broken into at least three layers of their respective components (oil, water, and clay) by adding a few weight percent of a high HLB surfactant prediluted in water. Centrifugation can accelerate this separation process. The resulting oil, water, and clay layers can thereafter be more cost effectively recycled or disposed of following the process. In another embodiment an additional surface active agent is added to facilitate breaking the drilling mud into three or more phases without the centrifuge.
Abstract:
Addition of an aminosulfonate product to an inorganic nitrogen-containing salt provides a composition of matter with improved properties. In particular, 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid and its derivatives can be added to ammonium nitrate to provide improved prills.

Abstract:
A lubricant comprising (a) an oil of lubricating viscosity; (b) a polyether of number average molecular weight 1000 to 10,000; said polyether comprising alkylene oxide monomer units, where the alkylene group contains 3 to 6 carbon atoms, and ethylene oxide monomer units; and (c) one or more anti-foam agents, where the lubricant has a sulfated ash content of less than about 0.7 percent, is useful for lubricating a stationary gas engine where the engine drives a compressor and where both the engine and the compressor are lubricated with the same lubricant.
