Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powder coating composition containing an additive in an amount enhancing gloss retention and slipperiness, and to provide a process for coating a substrate therewith. SOLUTION: This composition contains the following components (a) and (b), (a) a film-forming resin composition, and (b) an additive in an amount enhancing gloss retention and slipperiness, which additive contains a non- crosslinked reaction product of a hydroxy compound with a carboxylic acid or a reactive equivalent thereof, wherein the reaction product contains at least one ester functional group and at least one linear hydrocarbyl group having about 10 to about 100 carbon atoms.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject additive having favorable gloss and improved slip performance by using a fatty acid amide or polyalkylene wax slip additive. SOLUTION: This additive comprises a non-cross-linked reaction product from (A) an amine of the formula NR R H [R and R are each hydrocarbyl or a hydroxyalkyl of the formula (R and R are each H or hydrocarbyl)] or the formula D-(NGH)y (D is a 2-30C polyvalent organic group; G is H, hydrocarbyl or a hydroxyalkyl of the above-mentioned formula; (y) is >=2, etc.) and (B) a carboxylic acid of the formula B-(COOH)z (B is a direct bond between two COOH groups or monovalent or polyvalent organic group; (z) is 1-5, etc.) or a reactive equivalent thereto; wherein, the reaction product has at least two hydrocarbyl groups, each or which in turn bears about 12 to about 30 carbon atoms. A coating composition can be obtained using this additive and a film-forming resin.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powder coating compositions capable of giving cured coatings which exhibit a low coefficient of friction and substantial gloss retention. SOLUTION: A powder coating composition comprises (a) at least one non- crosslinked product which is produced by the reaction of an alcohol with an carboxylic acid or a reactive equivalent to the carboxylic acid and contains at least one ester functionality and at least one hydrocarbyl group having about 10 to about 100 carbon atoms and (b) at least one fluoropolymer at a weight ratio of component (a) to component (b) of about 70:30 to about 99:1.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gloss-retaining and slip-increasing coating additive, a coating composition containing this additive and a method for coating a substrate using this coating composition. SOLUTION: This composition comprises a combination of (a) and (b) below: (a) at least one non-crosslinked product prepared by a reaction of an amine with a carboxylic acid or its reactive equivalent, the product containing at least two hydrocarbyl groups and each hydrocarbyl group containing about 12 to about 100 carbon atoms; (b) at least one fluoropolymer.
Abstract:
Ceramic-containing engines are lubricated by compositions containing synthetic ester base stock. Suitable esters include those prepared from iso- and neo-acids of medium chain length and polyols including inositol.
Abstract:
A coating additive composition containing the combination of a) at least one non-crosslinked product made by the reaction of an amine and a carboxylic acid, the product containing at least two hydrocarbyl groups each having about 12 to about 100 carbon atoms; and (ii) at least one fluoropolymer. The additive composition is useful as a nonflatting slip-enhancing agent in both in solvent-based and powder coatings. The cured coatings exhibit lower coefficient of friction and substantial gloss retention.
