Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission method and device for a data stream with an enhanced error permissible power. SOLUTION: In the transmission method for a data stream, a coding unit 202 encodes a source data word consisting of k-sets of symbols in a received data stream to generate a code word consisting of n-sets of symbols larger than number (k). A slice unit 204 slices each of code words consisting of n-sets of the symbols into a plurality of code word slices. A distribution type transmissions unit 206 routes the encoded slices along a plurality of parallel paths to generate a plurality of routed code word slices. A combination unit 210 combines a plurality of the routed code word slices to generate a plurality of the routed code words consisting of n-sets of the symbols. A decoding unit 212 decodes the routed code work consisting of n-sets of the symbols to generate the routed data word consisting of k-sets of the symbols in an output data stream corresponding to the source data word consisting of k-sets of the symbols in the input data stream.
