Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing the possibility that a pulse is arranged at an adjacent track position. SOLUTION: The device and method for vocoding an input signal includes a linear predictive filter which generates a filtered signal having 1st and 2nd pulses in response to the reception of the input signal and a processor having a look-up table containing multiple track positions. The 1st signal pulse is related to a 1st track position and the 2nd signal pulse is related to a 2nd track position as to the 1st signal pulse as multiple excitation parameters. This device has a transmitter which sends multiple excitation parameters in a transmit signal in response to the reception of the multiple excitation parameters from the processor.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method giving the restriction at the time of arranging pluses in tracks in order to perform more balanced coding with respect to uttered voices. SOLUTION: The inefficiency property of arrangement of track positions can be removed by carrying out an additional restrictive condition so that pluses can be effectively arranged in pulse position tracks. The signal quality of a decoded signal is improved by carrying out an additional condition giving restriction with respect to the arrangement of pulses in tracks whilst a signal is coded.

Abstract: Non-speech information is sent in the bits allocated to one or both of a vocoder's codebooks' output by selling the gain for the corresponding codebook to zero. By selling the gain to zero, the codebook output will not be interpreted by the receiving vocoder. In this way, it is possible to transmit additional information in a way that is totally transparent to the vocoder. Applications for this technique of sending "secret" messages include, but is not limited to, transmitting parameters for generating non-speech signals. As an example, information to generate call waiting tones, DTMF, or TTY/TDD characters can be clandestinely embedded in the compressed bit stream so that these non-speech tones can be regenerated.

The method of involves the communication between a calling-from-party and a calling-to-party. The method includes the step of receiving an initiation signal from the calling-from-party for identifying the calling-to-party. In response to verifying the identity of the calling-to-party as a service subscriber in a database, the method selects multimedia content to be transmitted to the calling-from-party. A voice link may then be established to the calling-to-party in response to the initiation signal from the calling-from-party. Thereafter, the initiation signal may be bridged with the established voice link to establish a voice link between the calling-from-party the calling-to-party.
