Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network where congestion and a delay can be reduced. SOLUTION: A group multi-casting network is provided with ring networks interconnected by a tree network. A ring including multi-cast group members is connected by leaf nodes of a tree via a bridge node. The ring nodes conduct a ring-based multi-cast protocol and the tree nodes conduct a tree-based multi- cast protocol. The bridge node acts as medium between the ring network and the tree network and conducts both the ring-based multi-cast protocol and the tree based multi-cast protocol.

Abstract: A group multicasting network comprises a plurality of ring networks interconnected by a tree network. The rings, which include multicast group members, are connected at the leaf nodes of the tree via bridge nodes. Ring nodes perform a ring-based multicast protocol and the tree nodes perform a tree- based multicast protocol.
