Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a micro-fabricated optical switch with tapered end parts. SOLUTION: An optical switch 100 comprises four optical waveguides 130, 140, 150, 160 with tapered end parts, and the end parts each have two tapered parts and are arranged on a support, by which each tapered end of each waveguide is faced proximately to another tapered part and a space is specified between each pair of the facing tapered ends. A 1st electro-mechanical driver 108 is contained, which is capable of operating so as to move a 1st optical device 102 at least in and out of an optical path of an optical signal propagating between two waveguides, and the 1st optical device is moved in the space between a 1st pair of the facing tapered ends, and a 2nd optical device 118 is contained, which is capable of operating at least so as to move a 2nd optical device 112 in and out of an optical path of an optical signal, and one tapered end of the 1st pair and one tapered end of the 2nd pair are common to one of the optical waveguides.
