    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mixture especially readily moldable, relatively inexpensively recyclable in a conductive, fire-retardant thermoplastic elastomer mixture. SOLUTION: This mixture comprises a thermoplastic elastomer base, a conductive material having a matrix of conductive element and a fife-retardant material. In one specific example, the mixture comprises a styrene-ethylene-butylene- styrene(SEBS) plastic material combined with antimony trioxide and a metal- coated graphite fiber. In one specific composition, the mixture comprises about 10-20% based on volume of the mixture of antimony trioxide, about 5-25% based on volume of the mixture of the metal-coated graphite fiber and the rest of volume of the mixture of the base elastomer material.

    Abstract: A method of making a conductive fire-retardant thermoplastic mixture is disclosed. The material includes a thermoplastic synthetic rubber material, a fire retardant, and a conductive material comprising a matrix of conductive elements. The method comprises bundling the conductive elements together to form a bundle of conductive elements (50), each including a multiplicity of individual said conductive elements adhered together. The bundle has a diameter (D2) ranging from 0.23 cm to 0.25 cm and a length (L1) ranging from 0.51 cm to 0.64 cm. The thermoplastic synthetic rubber material, the fire retardant and the bundle of conductive elements are I then mixed together. This mixing is carried out to break the adhesion between the conductive elements and disperse the conductive elements throughout the mixture.
