Abstract:
A method of transmitting a message between user equipment and network equipment, user equipment and network equipment are disclosed. The method of transmitting a message between user equipment and network equipment in which the message comprises a message header and a message payload, the message header having a plurality of fields, comprises the steps of: setting an indicator field in the message header to indicate that a report providing scheduling information is included in the message payload; setting a secondary indicator field in the message header to indicate that, for at least some values of the secondary indicator field, an alternative report having alternative scheduling information is included in the message payload; and transmitting the message header and message payload. This enables alternative reports to be transmitted from the user equipment without reducing the number of allocatable logical channels or MAC CE types.
Abstract:
This invention concerns a method of providing a VoIP connection through wireless communication links of a packekbased wireless communication system, and a-corresponding base station and terminal. The wireless communication links comprise an uplink transmission path (2uc, 2us) from the terminal to the-base station, and a downlink transmission path (2dc, 2ds) from the base station to the terminal. Each of the uplink and downlink transmission paths (2uc, 2us, 2dc( 2ds) have a control channel (2uc, 2dc) and at least one data channel (2us, 2ds). Control messages (20d, 21d, 220u, 221u, 230d, 250u, 260u) are generated for scheduling network resources and for suspending and/or re-issuing a persistent grant of network resources allocated to the VoIP connection.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method of managing coexisting packet streams (100, T10) in a wireless communication system, and a corresponding controller and a mobile terminal. A first packet stream (110) of the coexisting packet streams (100, 110) requires transmission resources of the wireless communication system at fixed time intervals, and a second packet stream (100) of the coexisting packet streams (100, 110) requires transmission resources of the wireless communication system at dynamically determined time intervals. A schedule defining allocations of-transmission resources for the first packet stream (110) is set up. A request for an initial grant of transmission resources for a transmission of a data packet (101) of the second packet stream (100) is issued. In the process of allocating transmission resources to the second packet stream (100), the controller analyses the schedule of transmission resources allocated to the first packet stream (110) and thereby determines whether a retransmission (102, 103) of the data packet (101) associated with the second packet stream (100) is possible to collide with a transmission of a data packet (111, 112) associated with the first packet stream (110) according to the schedule. The controller transmits a parameter specifying a number N of retransmissions (102, 103) possible without such collision as part of the initial grant of transmission resources to the mobile terminal.
