Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical IP router that provides an increased number of input and output channels and provides a higher overall throughput. SOLUTION: This invention discloses the optical router (10) having at least one frequency router (20). The frequency router includes input ports (22, 24) and output ports (26, 28). At least the one input port simultaneously receives at least two optical signals whose frequency paths are to be selected, and at least the one output port simultaneously provides at least two optical signals whose frequency paths are selected. Each optical signal whose frequency path is to be selected is colored in accordance with the destination information.
