Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce costs and simplify structure by providing an insulation transformer with primary coil winding that is connected to a primary side power switch, a secondary side power switch that is connected to the secondary coil winding of the insulation transformer, and a capacitor that is connected to the secondary side power switch. SOLUTION: A secondary side power switch Sw can be operated so that it conducts electricity during the conduction period of a primary side power switch to allow current to flow from an insulation transformer T1 to output. The current is partially accumulated in a power supply 200 during the non- conduction period of the secondary side power switch Sw. Therefore, the power supply 200 further includes a capacitor (circulation capacitor Cf) that is connected to the secondary side power switch Sw for circulating one portion of current during the non-conduction period of the secondary side power switch Sw in the direction of the output. The costs of the capacitor are low and the use of a bi-directional active switch prevents the structure from becoming complex as a passive device.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively and efficiently start the operation of a secondary-side bias circuit by a method, wherein an electric-charge reservoir voltage is increased when the trickle current of an electric-charge reservoir is retained, a latch connects the electric-charge reservoir to a power-supply control circuit, when the electric-charge reservoir voltage reaches a threshold and the electric- charge reservoir is operated when the operation of the power-supply control circuit is started. SOLUTION: In an electric-charge reservoir 210, a third capacitor C3 receives and retains a rectified trickle current from an input circuit 205 during the start time of a power converter. The rectified trickle current crosses the third capacitor C3 so as to increase voltage. Thereby, an electric charge which is interlocked with the trickle current is retained in the electric-charge reservoir 210. A latch 215 is connected to the electric-charge reservoir 210 and is operated, when a voltage which crosses the third capacitor C3 reaches a threshold. Then, the latch 215 connects the electric-charge reservoir 210 to a bias load 220 and acts as a power supply control circuit which is used to start its processing operation. The latch 215 is includes a fifth diode D5.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the normal change rate of a second output in a light load state by a method, wherein a delay circuit which generates a delay signal is provided and an auxiliary switch which is built in a mutual adjustment output circuit, which is turned off by receiving the delay signal and which separates at least a part of a ringing inside the mutual adjustment output circuit, is provided. SOLUTION: A voltage change controller 225 is provided with a delay circuit 230, which is connected to a modulator (PWM) 220 and which generates a delay signal based on a main-switch control signal. In addition, it is provided with an auxiliary switch S2 which is built in a mutual adjustment output circuit 215, which is turned off by receiving the delay signal and which separates at least a part of a ringing inside the mutual adjustment output circuit 215. The delay circuit 230 contains a signal inverter, which generates a complementary signal with respect to the main-switch control signal. The auxiliary switch S2 can be formed of an n-channel field-effect transistor FET. In addition, the auxiliary switch S2 is connected between a diode D2 and a capacitor C2 in the mutual adjustment output circuit 215.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain all high frequency distortions by boost operation, and obtain a desirable low output voltage by installing an autotransformer having a center tap which is connected in common at output and supplies a reduced output voltage. SOLUTION: A boost converter 100 receives input power from a three-phae voltage source 110 through a first - a third boost inductors 120a, 120b, 120c. These boost inductors are coupled with a rectifier 130 provided with a plurality of diodes arranged in a complete bridge structure. When a boost switch 140 is in an off state, the rectifier 130 rectifies an AC input voltage before it travels to the output stage of the boost converter 100. When the boost switch 140 is in an on state, a reverse bias is applied to a boost diode 145, which insulates the output stage. While the boost switch 140 is in the on state, an AC input supplies energy to the first - third inductors 120a, 120b, 120c.

The first switch and the first, second and third L-C resonant networks cooperate to create resonant voltages across, and induce phase currents through, the first, second and third input inductors to reduce input current THD associated with the boost converter.

Abstract: A boost converter having multiple L-C branches and a method of operating the same. The boost converter includes first, second and third phase inputs and an output. In one embodiment, the boost converter includes first and second switches coupled between corresponding rails of the output. The boost converter also includes first, second and third capacitors that form first, second and third L-C series branches, respectively, with a first inductor. The first, second and third L-C series branches are coupled between the first, second and third phase inputs, respectively, and a node between the first and second switches. The first and second switches cooperate progressively to employ a voltage across the rails less a voltage across the first, second and third capacitors to discharge currents through the first inductor and thereby reduce input current total harmonic distortion (THD) on all three of the phase inputs.

Abstract: A multiple output dc to dc converter is described that has multiple regulated output voltages. This is achieved by using a common subcircuit in conjunction wi th multiple input subcircuits to power multiple output circuits. The common subcirc uit is used with an input subcircuit to form a converter input circuit which with a corresponding output circuit produces an output voltage. Any number of input subcircuits can be used with the common subcircuit to produce a corresponding am ount of output voltages. The multiple output dc to dc converter described produces ou tput voltage of the same quality as using parallel converters but with a cost and com plexity similar to that of using inferior secondary side switches for auxiliary outputs.
