Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining a contribution to RSSI measuring an external jammer signal so that a capacity of a communication system can be better and more effectively be used, and particularly, more effectively use the capacity of an inverse link of the communication system. SOLUTION: This method is for detecting and measuring a contribution by an external jammer signal with respect to all power to be received by an inverse link of a communication system. All the received power with respect to the inverse link is measured. A calculation of a load estimated based on a power increase by background noises and all Eb/N0's is executed. The contribution of the external jammer signal with respect to all the received powers is calculated from the load estimated value. From the capability of calculating a power level of the external jammer signal with respect to the predetermined inverse link, it is possible for a service provider to more effectively use the capacity of the inverse link. A mean value of the calculated external jammer power level can be calculated as to a time period defined by the service provider of the communication system.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for substantially preventing the overload situation of a communication system which is not affected by an outside jammer signal. SOLUTION: A step 300 for setting a threshold for allowable communication is installed for substantially preventing an overload situation in a communication system based on a call load. Then, the call load is analyzed and an average call load value is calculated 302. When the average call load value is under the threshold which is set, communication channels for all subscribers requesting reception permission to the communication system are monitored and the reception of the subscribers is allowed 306. When the average call load value is substantially equal to the threshold which is set or larger, the request of the reception permission of the subscriber is inhibited and the subscriber is not permitted to be received by the communication system 308. The subscriber whose contribution to the call load is considered to be large or the permitted subscriber whose contribution tends to cause the overload situation is identified and removed from the communication system.

Abstract: A method for preventing overload conditions in a communication system. T he communication system performs a call load analysis and admits a subscriber requesting admission (or responding to a page) to the system based on the result of the call load analysis. The call load analysis is based on the signal to noise power ratio s of all subscribers already admitted to the communication system. External jammer signals that interfere with subscriber signals thus reducing the coverage of the communication system do not affect the call load analysis. The jammer signals therefore, do not hinder an efficient use of the capacity of the communication system. A threshold value is established and such threshold value is compared to an average call load val ue calculated from a plurality of instantaneous call load values. When the calculated average call load value is substantially equal to or above the established threshold, no subscribers are admitted to the communication system; subscribers are admitted when the calculated average call load value is below the established threshold. Individual subscribers whose contributions to the average call load value are deemed significant (tending to cause or actually causing overload conditions) are identified and removed from the system.
