Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for obtaining desired phase of optical characteristics of a Fabry-Perot(FP) etalon, using many photodetectors. SOLUTION: Many photodetectors are matched passively at various positions to an incident light beam to detect optical signals at different phases sent from an FP etalon. The invented FP etalon and a photodetector array are usable as a frequency discriminator in an optical system, having a need for a specified phase which the optical characteristic of the FP etalon has.
