Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a system for recognizing object capable of recognizing an object independently of fluctuating characteristics like colors, directions, etc., of the object. SOLUTION: A light pattern to extract three-dimensional coordinates is projected on the surface part of the object 250. Image data set on the surface part of the object 250 are captured by a capture device 220 which is arranged by forming a certain angle offset regarding a light source 210. Next, a set of local radius of curvature is determined for a selected set of data points in the image data set. When the image data set are the ones for generation of a library of a spectrum (the one for the known object), they are processed together with a spectrum of other curvature and a reference library 275 of the known object is formed. When the image data set is the one for an unknown object, it is compared with the reference library 275 of the known object and a discrimination is performed.
