Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for transmitting a paging message used for a base station in a wireless communication system. SOLUTION: The method for transmitting a paging message used for a base station in the wireless communication system includes a step of adopting a super paging time slot format, where super time slots periodically repeated are included to transmit the paging message to a wireless terminal. The super time slot has time slots, and each time slot is used to transmit the paging message to the wireless terminal.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to identify whether wireless terminals are reachable within a base station cell coverage area in a wireless communications system by using a timing control order and timing control signals. SOLUTION: The base station transmits a paging message to a particular terminal. Receiving the paging message, the wireless terminal sends a paging response message back to the base station. If the base station does not receive the timing control message, it is an indication that communication with the particular wireless terminal has been lost. In this case, the base station transmits the termination order in a timing slot.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for use between a wireless terminal and a base station transmitting a paging message in wireless communi cation systems. SOLUTION: In a unique paging time slot format, each of the allocated paging time slots occurs periodically and is split into several prescribed paging time slots including at least one first type slot having a relatively short duration and at least one second type paging time slot having a longer duration. The first type paging time slots is of relatively short duration and indicates whether a particular associated wireless terminal was paged. The second type paging time slots is of longer duration than the first type time slot and transports the entire paging message.
