Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a large-capacity multi-wavelength optical communication system, problematic with, especially, conventional technology, relating to a multi-wavelength optical fiber communication system comprising an optical fiber amplifier. SOLUTION: Relating to an optical fiber communication system (for example, 80) wherein irradiation is transferred with multiple wavelengths provided with a transmitter 81, a receiver 82, and a transfer channel 83 comprising an optical amplifier fiber with rare earth doped, after a pump irradiation passes the length of optical amplifier fiber, a fiber communication system is selected so that as least 70% of a provided pump irradiation power is not absorbed to the optical amplifier fiber.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high output power and prevent a carrier/noise ratio from being sacrificed, by permitting an optical carrier signal generated by an optical source to hold information by a modulator, and providing a premodulation amplifier that amplifies a carrier signal that is not to be modulated. SOLUTION: A first amplifier 45 inputs a non-modulated carrier signal on a path 41 to a modulator 44 after amplifying it, and a second amplifier 46 amplifies a modulated carrier signal and outputs it to an optical transmission path 49. The modulator 44 modulates the information to write in amplified carrier signal on the path 43 and sends the information to the second amplifier 46 through a path 47. The second amplifier 46 amplifies the carrier signal on the path 47 and sends it to a using device 48 through an optical transmission path 49. An optical transmitter 40 is an analog transmitter that can generate a high power optical output at a relatively high carrier/noise ratio(CNR), and an optical source 42 is a semiconductor laser having a narrow line width for generating a continuous wave carrier signal. The CNR is remarkably improved with a slight gain of the first amplifier 45, high power is outputted and the CNR at the input point of the using device 48 is improved.
