    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for effectively and safely monitoring usable life of a pulse oximetry sensor.SOLUTION: According to one embodiment, the system includes a timer and a sensor having a sensor life indicator. The sensor life indicator may advantageously include a visual alarm, an audio alarm, a vibrational alarm, a power-down function or the like. According to another embodiment, the system includes a sensor having a memory device storing the unique identifier. In addition, according to another embodiment, the system includes an oximeter which is used as a form of a timer or a sensor life indicator.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sensor of an oximeter which is capable of using in a plurality of systems. SOLUTION: The sensor of oximeter includes a first light emitting diode, a second light emitting diode, and a photoelectric detector. A connector has electric joints to the anodes and the cathodes of the light emitting diodes, and electric joint to the termini of the photoelectric detector. A mutual joint connector is inserted between a connector of oximeter sensors and a connector that is communicated with an oximeter system. The mutual joint connector has a structure that makes the light emitting diodes conform to the oximeter system, and has a mutual joint wiring that is selected to electrically connect the sensor connector and the system connector. In details a first mutual joint connector constitutes the light emitting diodes with a common anode array, and a second mutual joint connector is constituted with a structure facing in opposite direction. Every connector is capable of being in the form of a shell with two connecters, or in the form of a flexible cable which has connectors at its both terminals.

    Abstract: A plethysmograph variability processor inputs a plethysmograph waveform having pulses corresponding to pulsatile blood flow within a tissue site. The processor derives plethysmograph values based upon selected plethysmograph features, determines variability values, and calculates a plethysmograph variability parameter. The variability values indicate the variability of the plethysmograph features. The plethysmograph variability parameter is representative of the variability values and provides a useful indication of various physiological conditions and the efficacy of treatment for those conditions.

    Abstract: A patient monitor for displaying a physiological signal can include a visual element having a middle portion indicative of a transition in the physiological signal between physiological states. The visual element can also include first and second extremity portions, the first extremity portion extending from the middle portion in a first direction and the second extremity portion extending from the middle portion in a second direction. The visual element can also include an actionable value indicator to specify a value about the middle portion and the first and second extremity portions. The patient monitor can also include a processor configured to cause the value indicator to actuate in both the first and second directions according to changes in the physiological signal.
