Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved signal processing method in a physiological monitor system. SOLUTION: A physiological monitor system comprises: an optical probe including a photodetector which is constituted so as to detect at least light beams of first and second wavelengths attenuated by a human body tissue where pulsing blood is circulating and outputs one or more intensity signals based on the detected light beams; a first calculation module to determine a first value representing at least one physiological characteristic of pulsing blood on the basis of at least one among one or more intensity signals; a second calculation module to determine at least a second value representing physiological characteristics on the basis of at least one among one or more intensity signals; and a processing module constituted so as to use at least one among the first and second calculating modules to determine a value serving as a result of representing physiological characteristics. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a physiological monitoring system. SOLUTION: This physiological monitoring system is configured to detect light of at least first and second wavelengths attenuated by the human body tissue, and one or more intensity signals are outputted based on the detected light. A first calculation technique is utilized to determine at least a first value representing at least one physiological characteristic of pulsing blood based on at least one of the one or more intensity signals, and a second calculation technique is utilized to determine at least a second value representing a physiological characteristic based on at least one of the one or more intensity signals. Abstract: The present invention involves method and apparatus for analyzing two measured signals that are modeled as containing primary and secondary portions. Coefficients relate the two signals according to a model defined in accordance with the present invention. In one embodiment, the present invention involves utilizing a transformation which evaluates a plurality of possible signal coefficients in order to find appropriate coefficients. Alternatively, the present invention involves using statistical functions or Fourier transform and windowing techniques to determine the coefficients relating to two measured signals. Use of this invention is described in particular detail with respect to blood oximetry measurements.
