    Abstract: A colored fluorescent lamp assembly wherein a plurality of lamp tubes each coated on the inner surface with each of different coloring fluorescent substances and gas-tightly closed at one end having an electrode communicate their interior at the other open end with the interior of a gas-tight cell having a common electrode, and a single lighting control means controllably causes discharge lightings between the common electrode and the respective electrodes in the lamp tubes, for variably colored light emissions with a compact outline.

    Abstract: A colored fluorescent display lamp assembly (10) has a lamp housing (11) in which a plurality of discharge chambers (14R, 14G1, 14G2, 14B) are defined and discharge holes (15, 15a, 15b, 15c) of the respective discharge chambers are provided concentratively in central area of bottom wall of the housing, and a lamp base formed by a relatively thin, light weight material to be opened on an end and to be of a smaller section than the lamp housing and carrying therein a common electrode, the open end being sealed to the central area of the lamp housing bottom wall to enclose the discharge holes. The lamp assembly can be thereby minimized in weight and size.

    Abstract: A discharge lamp lighting device minimized in dimensions and capable of lighting a discharge lamp with a source voltage close to discharge lamp voltage is provided. The device comprises an alternating current source, a discharge lamp connected in series with the alternating current source through a current limiting means and of a lamp voltage substantially equal to the source voltage, and a switching element connected substantially in parallel with the lamp. The switching element is actuated once in each of half cycles of the source voltage so that, when the element is in ON-state, an energy will be accumulated in the current limiting means and, when the element is in OFF-state, such accumulated energy will be exhausted to the discharge lamp, whereby the lamp is continuously lighted.
