Abstract:
Two kinds of mail addresses, one for reception and the other for a relay, are stored beforehand. A relay is permitted only if the mail address of the received E-mail data is a relay mail address. A password name is deleted from the mail address of the received E-mail whose relay is permitted. Said mail address whose password name has been deleted is used as part of header information and transmitted to a destination terminal together with data.
Abstract:
A RARP processing section 509 of a network scanner 1 obtains a MAC address corresponding to a user name from a MAC address table 510, and broadcasts a RARP request by use of this MAC address. While, a PC 4 sends a pair of a self-IP address and a mail address to a RARP processing section 509 in response to the RARP request. After obtaining an IP address of this PC 4, a scanner 15 scans an original, and generates e-mail to which the image is appended. Next, an SMTP transmitting section 507 directly transmits the generated e-mail to the PC. At this time, the SMTP transmitting section 507 uses the IP address of PC obtained by the RARP processing section 509. In the network to which HDCP is introduced, the network scanner automatically obtains the IP address of PC, and directly transmits image data to the PC.
Abstract:
IFAX (1) determines whether IFAX transmission processing or network scanner processing should be performed based on whether a start button or a scanner button is pressed on after an operator inputs a destination mail address. In a case of performing IFAX transmission processing, a journal is superimposed on an original image and e-mail is transmitted to the IFAX (8) via a mail server (3) and across the internet (5) and LAN (6). While, in a case of performing network scanner processing, the IFAX (1) does not perform the creation of journal, bitmapping, compression, and combination with the original image. Therefore, the original image can be transferred to a PC (4) without superimposing the journal thereon. This prevents the trouble in which the journal hinders the PC (4) from dealing with the original image.
Abstract:
An Internet facsimile apparatus 11A makes inquiry about capability, which a destination possesses, to a local server 13A . The server 13A is connected to the same LAN 10A as that of the Internet facsimile apparatus 11A. When the local server 13A has no capability information of the destination, the Internet facsimile apparatus 11A makes inquiry to a DNS server 14A and obtains capability information. Then, the Internet facsimile apparatus 11A makes an image to be suitable for the capability of the destination and transmits it to the destination via the Internet 1 . As a result, the Internet facsimile apparatus 11A on a transmitter side can surely obtain capability information of a destination terminal 11B, thereby making it possible to carry out the same capability exchange as that of G3 facsimile apparatus.
Abstract:
An internet facsimile apparatus and data communication apparatus that can directly exchange capability information of sender and receiver sides and maximize the capability of both sides is provided, by obtaining an IP address of a destination terminal based on the input e-mail address, and by directly transmitting the e-mail to the destination terminal using the IP address of the destination terminal without using mail servers. Also, using the IP address of the destination terminal, a connection is established with the destination terminal to execute a mail protocol that can exchange capability information. After obtaining the capability information of the destination terminal, data format of the sending data is converted to match the capability information of the destination terminal, and the sending data is transmitted by e-mail.
Abstract:
An Internet facsimile apparatus 11A as a sender makes inquiry about capability, which a destination Internet facsimile apparatus 11B possesses, to a local server 13A in a local network 10A. When the local server 13A has no capability information of the destination stored, the sender makes inquiry to a DNS server 16 higher than the local server 13A and obtains capability information of the destination from the DNS server 16. Then, the sender registers the obtained capability information of the destination to a memory, which the local server 13A or the sender has. This realizes that the sender can surely obtain capability information of the destination. Also, this makes it possible to automatically register capability information of the destination to the memory of the local server 13A or the sender.

Abstract:
A method of informing destination node of the processed result from a facsimile equipment or a printing device comprising the steps of extracting the electronic mail address of the node from facsimile data or prints received from an originating node through a LAN, detecting the processed results of the facsimile equipment or printing device, and transmitting the detected processed results to the electronic mail address of the destination node.
Abstract:
A facsimile control section (39) detects whether or not a transmission destination is busy. When the busy state is detected, the facsimile control section (39) notifies a busy notification mail generating section (40) that the busy state has been detected. In accordance with this notification, the busy notification mail generating section (40) generates a busy notification mail and instructs a mail transmitting section (42) to transmit the generated mail. Thereafter, the facsimile control section (39) executes a retry of facsimile transmission to a facsimile apparatus (1) of transmission destination. This makes it possible for a request source (6), which is placed at a remote site and the like, to easily recognize whether or not a relay apparatus (1) is retrying.
