Abstract: An Internet facsimile apparatus is provided such that, even when an electronic mail includes plural data files that cannot be processed by the apparatus, prints the electronic mail normally. The apparatus includes a mail analyzer that determines whether a received electronic mail includes data that cannot be printed by a printer. When the electronic mail includes such unprintable data, the unprintable data is transmitted to a conversion server. The apparatus receives back printable data converted from the unprintable data from the conversion server and prints the printable data. The apparatus stores an indication that a plurality of printable data converted from a plurality of unprintable data has been received back from the conversion server. A message ID processor checks the indication, and the printer is informed regarding an object to be printed in accordance with the result of checking by the message ID processor.

Abstract: In a facsimile communication method for transmitting facsimile data to a reception terminal from a facsimile machine via a communication network, a transmission process in the facsimile machine includes the following steps: (a) a step of saving image data of an original to be transmitted as facsimile data in a storage; (b) a step of generating access information data for access to the image data, saved in the storage, from the reception terminal via the transmission network; (c) a step of sending the access information data to the reception terminal by an e-mail; and (d) a step of transmitting the image data in the storage to the reception terminal from the facsimile machine by a communication protocol of a point-to-point data transfer form upon reception of an access request for the image data from the reception terminal.

Abstract: An internet facsimile apparatus and data communication apparatus that can directly exchange capability information of sender and receiver sides and maximize the capability of both sides is provided, by obtaining an IP address of a destination terminal based on the input e-mail address, and by directly transmitting the e-mail to the destination terminal using the IP address of the destination terminal without using mail servers. Also, using the IP address of the destination terminal, a connection is established with the destination terminal to execute a mail protocol that can exchange capability information. After obtaining the capability information of the destination terminal, data format of the sending data is converted to match the capability information of the destination terminal, and the sending data is transmitted by e-mail.
