Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a refrigerator in which water dropped from a heat exchanger is prevented from being splashed onto a heater for defrosting operation when a defrosting operation of the heat exchanger is performed in particular and an efficient defrosting operation is carried out. CONSTITUTION:In a refrigerator comprising at least a refrigerator chamber 7, a fan 1, a heat exchanger 6, a water droplet protection plate 4 arranged substantially below the heat exchanger and a straight-pipe type heater 2 arranged substantially below the water droplet protection plate, both ends 5 of the water droplet protection plate positioned in parallel with the heater are positioned at a certain specified range in respect to the heater thereby the water droplet defrosted is prevented from being splashed onto the heater and further heat got from the heater can be efficiently supplied to the heat exchanger. The shortest distance between the water droplet protection plate and the heater is kept at a constant value under a certain condition, thereby the heat got from the heater can be efficiently supplied to the heat exchanger.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To terminate service life with a circuit kept in an open state by providing a resistor having higher electric resistance of a snap action bimetal on a position of the snap action bimetal interconnected with a bimetal supporting body by a fixed part and a movable contact. CONSTITUTION:When repulsive force of a snap action bimetal 14 is weakened and a movable contact 15 and a terminal board 11 are fused so that the bimetal cannot shut overcurrent in final stage of repetitive fatigue of the snap action bimetal 14, by providing a hole 18 on the bimetal 14, a cross section in the vicinity of the movable contact 15 is reduced to be a higher resistance part than other parts, so that Joule heat due to overcurrent is concentrated on a remaining part other than the hole 18 to have the bimetal 14 blown at blown parts 20, 21 thereby holding a circuit in an open state. Thus even if the movable contact and the terminal board are fused, the service life can be terminated with current surely cut off.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a device which causes no deterioration in the defrosting performance of a refrigerator by providing a deodorizing heater having thereon a catalyst-coated layer consisting of activated alumina, silica and platinum group metal, and a water droplet preventive member having a catalyst-coated layer on the surface thereof. CONSTITUTION:During the cooling operation of a refrigerator, air passing in a cooler chamber 27 is brought into contact with a deodorizing heater 33 and its cover 34, and odor components are adsorbed on catalystcoated layers 33a, 34a to be removed. When a defrosting operation is then started, the operations of a cooler 26 and a fan 28 are stopped while power is supplied to the deodorizing heater 33 which thereby generates heat. The catalyst-coated layer 33a is efficiently radiated to be heated by heat rays radiated in the entirely peripheral direction from an electric resistance wire 33d, and the odor components adsorbed is heated up to the level of an activation temperature in a short period of time to be desorbed, whereby the odor components are oxidized and decomposed to be deodorized, and the adsorbability of the catalyst-coated layer is regenerated. In addition, the catalyst-coated layer 34a of the water droplet preventive member 34 is formed into a thinly coated layer; therefore, the loss of heat transfer is small, and the upper surface of the water droplet preventive member 34 can be heated to a high temperature. As a result, a deodorizing effect can be obtained without deteriorating the defrosting performance of the refrigerator.
