Abstract: Hypoglycaemic indolyl (or furyl or thienyl or pyrrolyl) pyridinium salts. N3A. Are of formula (I) (where R = lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, cycloalkyl (lower alkyl), or alkoxy, lower alkyl; where A = H, lower alkyl, lower O-alkyl, or hal; B = H, lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, cycloalkyl-lower alkyl, or lower alkoxy- lower alkyl; Y = H or lower alkyl; Z = O, S, or NH; and X = an anion e.g. Cl, Br, I). Preparation is by reacting (II) with (III) in a solvent at 0-150 degrees C.
