Abstract: Information may be presented to a user in a way that reflects an awareness of the user's current situation. The relationship between user's situation, and various people and things, may be analyzed to determine the user's proximity to those people and things. (Proximity may refer not only to geographic proximity, but also temporal proximity, relevance proximity, etc.) A user interface may show people and things at different levels of proximity to the user's current situation, with the level of proximity being represented visually. The user may reposition the center of focus to one of the people or things depicted. When the center is repositioned, the level of proximity of people and things may be shown relative to the new center of focus, filtered based on existing relationships of those people and things to the user.

Abstract: Technology for generating a customized advertisement for a user is provided. Multimedia content associated with a current broadcast is received and displayed. One or more users are identified in a field of view of a capture device connected to a computing device. User-specific information related to a user is tracked. An emotional response of a user to the multimedia content viewed by the user is tracked. A targeted advertisement is provided to a user based on the multimedia content viewed by the user, the user's identification information and the user's emotional response. The targeted advertisement is automatically customized based on the user-specific information related to the user to generate a customized advertisement for the user. The targeted and customized advertisement is displayed to the user during a pre-programmed time interval, via an audiovisual device connected to the computing device.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for delivering content customized to the specific user or users interacting with the system. The system includes one or more modules for recognizing an identity of a user. These modules may include for example a gesture recognition engine, a facial recognition engine, a body language recognition engine and a voice recognition engine. The user may also be carrying a mobile device such as a smart phone which identifies the user. One or more of these modules may cooperate to identify a user, and then customize the user's content based on the user's identity. In particular, the system receives user preferences indicating the content a user wishes to receive and the conditions under which it is to be received. Based on the user preferences and recognition of a user identity and/or other traits, the system presents content customized for a particular user.

Abstract: An optical see-through head-mounted display device includes see-through lens which combines an augmented reality image with light from a real-world scene, while opacity filter is used to selectively block portions of the real-world scene so that the augmented reality image appears more distinctly. The opacity filter can be a see-through LCD panel, for instance, where each pixel of LCD panel can be selectively controlled to be transmissive or opaque, based on size, shape and position of the augmented reality image. Eye tracking can be used to adjust position of the augmented reality image and the opaque pixels. Peripheral regions of the opacity filter, which are not behind the augmented reality image, can be activated to provide a peripheral cue or representation of the augmented reality image. In another aspect, opaque pixels are provided at a time when an augmented reality image is not present.
