Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auto hide mode for hiding a task bar. SOLUTION: In the auto hide mode, the task bar is hidden. The task bar is hidden when a user opens a window on the desktop. However, when no more opened windows remain, the task bar reappears. In addition, a user may cause the task bar reappear even when a window is opened by pointing, with the mouse cursor, the edge of the video display to which a task bar is anchored.
