Abstract: Slimicidal treatment of water in recirculated water systems such as in cooling towers, air-conditioners, humidifiers and the like. The treatment consists of the introduction into the water of an Alpha -halo, Alpha , Beta -unsaturated carbonyl compound, particularly of Alpha -halocinnamaldehyde.
