A NEW CHANNEL ALLOCATION ALGORITHM IS PROPOSED BY USING SMART ANTENNA SYSTEM TO ELIMINATE THE CO-CHANNEL INTERFERENCE. THIS ALGORITHM CONSIDERS THE NUMBER OF SUBCHANNELS IN THE OFDM SPECTRUM IN ORDER TO INCREASE THE SYSTEM CAPACITY. THE NEW ALGORITHM IS DESIGNED TO AVOID THE SAME SUBCHANNEL OF OFDM SPECTRUM TO BE ALLOCATED IN ADJACENT NODES. THE SYSTEM CAPACITY CAN BE INCREASED WHEN THE CO-CHANNEL INTERFERENCE IS REDUCED.
