Abstract: The present invention discloses a chemical sensing device (100) comprising a transducer (101), a hydrogel layer (102), and an ion sensing layer (103), wherein the hydrogel layer (102) is modified to comprise a surfactant. Such modification lowers the surface tension between the transducer (101) and the hydrogel layer (102), and therefore promoting a superior coverage of the hydrogel layer (102) on the top surface of the transducer (101), and also promoting a better binding between the two (101) (102). Also disclosed herein is a method for fabricating the chemical sensing device (100).
