Abstract: The invention provides a system (100) for identity-based entity authentication for client- server communications comprising: a trusted authority module (110) configured to register at least one client and at least one server involved in the client-server communications and generate public parameters and secret parameters for use in the authentication; a server module (120) configured to securely store secret parameters for the server to authenticate the server to the client, and to authenticate the client to the server; a client module (130) configured to verify the authenticity of the server and to authenticate the client to said server; and a protocol module (140) configured to provide mutual authentication between the client and the server; characterised in that the protocol module (140) provides mutual authentication between the client and the server using ID-based challenge-response protocol and that the server module (120) authenticates the client to the server using ID-based authentication.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved method of constructing a bijective substitution box from power functions over the finite field that is cryptographically strong by virtue of satisfying all the cryptographic properties and operational characteristics set thereof including nonlinearity between 100 and 120, differential uniformity between 2 and 6, and algebraic degree between 4 and 7. The method comprises grouping a plurality of power functions into a first set, a second set and a third set comprising monomials of odd power function, even power function and linearly equivalent power function respectively (100); forming a base function comprising polynomials selected from any power function of the first set, the second set and the third set (101); selecting an element from the base function thereby extracting a number of least significant bits therefrom (102); based on the least significant bits, determining commands of reading selection, rotational direction and zone region (103); generating a prime base function by applying the commands to the base function (104); and performing a characteristic analysis to determine cryptographic properties of the same (105).
