Abstract: This invention relates to a digital indicator for cameras comprising a light measuring circuit for producing a voltage of the sum of an analog voltage obtained by measuring the object brightness and an analog voltage corresponding to at least the film speed, a circuit for converting the analog voltage derived from the light measuring circuit into a digital signal for providing an indication of an exposure condition, and an indicator unit having a main indicator unit including luminous elements each supplied with the digital signal from the converting circuit to be energized to indicate the corresponding exposure condition and a subindicator unit including luminous elements, each indicating an exposure condition corresponding to a value between adjacent stages of the exposure condition indicated by the main indicator unit.

Abstract: An indicating system for use in a photographic camera of the type having a focal plane shutter and permitting flash firing only when the shutter speed is longer than a given value to ensure the full uncovering of the film surface upon flash firing. The indicating system normally indicates an exposure time to be effected in accordance with the object brightness. When the indicated prospective exposure time is longer than the given value, an indication member of the system provides a different indication than the normal exposure time indication. The indicating system includes a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) of the same number corresponding to that of the exposure times to be indicated, with the LEDs being selectively energized continuously to indicate a respective exposure time. When the object brightness is so low that one of the LEDs corresponding to an exposure time longer than the given value is energized, the LED to be lit is intermittently energized to flash upon charge completion of the main capacitor of an electronic flash device.

Abstract: A first light measuring circuit includes a photoelectric element receiving light through the objective lens and generating a first output proportional to the logarithm of the brightness of an object to be photographed, and a circuit for providing a second output indicative of the film sensitivity and the lens aperture. The light measuring circuit provides a first signal indicative of the sum of the first and second outputs. A second circuit includes a clock pulse generator and a counter for producing a second signal having a stair step waveform corresponding to the counting of a pulse. A voltage comparator produces a signal when the level of the second signal exceeds that of the first. A third circuit stops the counting of the pulses upon receipt of the threshold level signal from the voltage comparator.

Abstract: An exposure meter provides a display indicating the brightness of selected portions of a scene to be photographed. In one embodiment, a photometering block including a plurality of light sensitive elements is employed, and there is an automatic fixed display indicating the brightness level of the brightest and the darkest portions of the objective scene together with a display of a median value. Another embodiment employs a spot photometering device with only one light sensitive element, and a display of the brightness level of different portions of the scene selected by the photographer.
