    Abstract: PURPOSE:To substantially prevent the sticking of dust, etc., and to decrease malfunctions by allowing an antistatic agent consisting of a benzene sulfoneamide deriv. to exist on the surface of the cartridge. CONSTITUTION:The antistatic agent consisting of the benzene sulfoneamide deriv. is added at 0.5 to 3 pts.wt. to 100 pts.wt. polycarbonate resin of bisphenol A type having 140000 to 25000mol.wt. and after both are dry blended, the mixture is melted and kneaded by a twin-screw extruder (at 260 deg.C) by which the mixture is pelletized. The pellets formed in such a manner are injection molded to form cartridge halves for optical disks. As a result, the antistatic agent consisting of the benzene sulfoneamide deriv. is made to exist on the cartridge surface. Thermoplastic resins, such as polymethyl methacrylate, ABS resin and amorphous polyolefin, in addition to the polycarbonate resin are used as the base material to be used for the cartridge and the polycarbonate resin is particularly adequate.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To remove acid components from crude gamma-butyrolactone economically on an industrial scale and to obtain high-purity gamma-butyrolactone, by heat-treating gamma-butyrolactone in the presence of an alkaline earth metal oxide and/or hydroxide and distilling the treated product. CONSTITUTION:Crude gamma-butyrolactone (especially gamma-butyrolactone produced by catalytically hydrogenating maleic anhydride or its partial hydride and removing low-boiling components and high-boiling components from the reaction product preferably by distillation) is purified by distillation after heat-treatment at 100-250 deg.C, preferably 120-250 deg.C in the presence of one or more compounds selected from an alkaline earth metal oxide and hydroxide. The side reaction of gamma-butyrolactone can be suppressed and purified gamma-butyrolactone having remarkably low acid content and useful as various solvents, improver or intermediate for pharmaceuticals or agricultural chemicals can be economically produced on an industrial scale.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the inclusion of bubbles, etc., by forming parts exposed with a resin in the outer and inner peripheral parts of substrates and subjecting the exposed resin parts to a heating treatment for 10 seconds to 10 minutes at 70 to 140 deg.C, then applying an adhesive thereto. CONSTITUTION:The parts exposed with the resin are formed in the outer and inner peripheral parts of the resin substrates on the side provided with the recording layers. The exposed resin parts are subjected to the heating treatment for 10 seconds to 10 minutes at 70 to 140 deg.C, more preferably 80 to 130 deg.C and the adhesive is applied thereon. The exposed parts are thus adhered. Since the adhesive has the viscosity as high as 100 to 5,000 poises at 20 deg.C viscosity and, therefore, bubbles are often intruded into the adhesive. The adhesive is preferably used after the adhesive is subjected to vacuum defoaming prior to application at the time of use. The coating is executed by a method for setting an adhesive discharge nozzle in a specified radial position to one of the stuck substrate surfaces and applying and forming the adhesive to a doughnut shape so as not to generate the bubbles on the circumference, while rotating the substrate, then superposing the other substrate on the coated substrate and sticking the substrates to each other. The extremely stable and good optical recording medium is obtd. in this way.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve reliability of mechanical characteristics, etc., by heating the coated surfaces of two sheets of substrates prior to or during sticking in the case of sticking these substrates in such a manner that the surfaces coated with a hot melt adhesive agent face each other. CONSTITUTION:The coated surface of two sheets of the substrates, which are formed by successively depositing recording layers or the recording layers and protective layers on transparent substrates and applying the hot melt adhesive agent on the surfaces thereof are heated prior to or during the sticking at the time of forming the magneto-optical recording medium by sticking two sheets of the above-mentioned substrates in such a manner that the coated surfaces face each other.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To selectively remove impurities from a solvent in high efficiency, by adding an epoxy compound to a non-carboxylic acid solvent containing water or an impurity having close boiling point to the solvent to convert the impurity into a monohydroxyl compound and separating the impurity from the solvent by distrillation. CONSTITUTION:A non-carboxylic acid solvent (e.g. gamma-butyrolactone) containing an impurity (e.g. 4-9C carboxylic acid) having active hydrogen and close boiling point to the solvent is added with an epoxy compound (e.g. a glycidyl ether compound) in an amount of preferably >=1 equivalent, especially 1-100 equiva lent based on the existing impurity to convert at least a part of the impurity into a monohydroxyl compound (the boiling point of the produced compound is remarkably different from that of the impurity component having active hydrogen and contained in the solvent). The converted impurity is separated from the solvent by distillation to easily obtain a purified solvent. Since the monohydroxyl compound has high thermal stability, it generates no impurity again by distillation.
