Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare the title compsn. excellent in strengths, oil resistance, adhesion to fiber, etc., by mixing a specific higher alpha-olefin copolymer with a (hydrogenated) nitrile rubber in a specified wt. ratio. CONSTITUTION:A higher a-olefin copolymer is produced by copolymerizing a 6-20C higher a-olefin (e.g. octene-1), an alpha,omega-diene of formula I (wherein n is 1-3; and R and R are each H or 1-8C alkyl)(e.g. 1,4-hexadiene), and a nonconjugated diene of formula II (wherein n is 1-5; R is 1-4C alkyl; and R and R are each H or 1-8C alkyl provided that they are not simultaneously H)(e.g. 4-methyl-1,4-hexadiene). The title compsn. is prepd. by mixing the copolymer with a nitrile rubber and/or a hydrogenated nitrile rubber in a wt. ratio of (5:95)-(95:5).

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a wholly aromatic polyester having excellent mechanical characteristics and heat resistance, etc., and capable of carrying out melt forming without causing corrosion of production apparatus due to by-products by using a specific raw material and preferably specific catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A compound expressed by the formula I (Ar and Ar are phenyl; Ar is phenylene) is used as an aromatic dicarboxylic acid component and simultaneously (A) an aromatic oxycarboxylic acid (preferably parahydroxybenzoic acid) expressed by formula II (R is H or phenyl; Ar'' is divalent aromatic hydrocarbon group) and (B) aromatic diol (e.g. hydroquinone) expressed by formula III (Ar is aromatic group) and or the component B and (C) 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl ether expressed by formula IV (Ar is phenylene) or the components A, B and C are used and a tin compound expressed by formula V (R to R are alkyl or aryl; X and X are hydroxy, alkoxy or aryloxy) is preferably used as a catalyst to produce the objective wholly aromatic polyester.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyamide resin having remarkably improved toughness by carrying out polycondensation of an oligo-condensate of a specific aromatic dicarboxylic acid and a diamine in the presence of nylon 636 in molten state under heating while applying shearing stress. CONSTITUTION:The objective polyamide resin composed of an aromatic polyamide and nylon 636 can be produced by carrying out polycondensation reaction of (A) an oligo-condensate composed of (A1) 60-100mol% of a unit derived from terephthalic acid and a 4-25C diamine and (A2) 0-40mol% of a unit derived from an aromatic dicarboxylic acid other than terephthalic acid and a 4-25C diamine and/or (B) an oligo-condensate composed of (B1) 30-90mol% of a unit derived from terephthalic acid and a 4-18C diamine and (B2) 10-70mol% of a unit derived from a 4-12C aliphatic dicarboxylic acid and a 4-18C diamine in molten state under application of shearing stress in the presence of (C) an aliphatic polyamide (nylon 636) produced by the polycondensation of hexamethylenediamine and a 34C aliphatic dicarboxylic acid.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide an amide resin composition composed of a polyamide resin consisting of a specific dicarboxylic acid component and a specific aliphatic diamine component and a filler, having excellent mechanical properties, heat-resistance, moldability, gas-barrier property, etc., and suitable as a material for a gas-barrier container, film, etc. CONSTITUTION:A polyamide resin is produced by the polycondensation of a mixture produced by compounding (A) a dicarboxylic acid component composed of 50-100mol% of 5-hydroxyisophthalic acid component and 0-50mol% of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid component (other than the 5-hydroxyisophthalic acid) and/or an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid component (preferably isophthalic acid, etc.) and (B) a 4-25C aliphatic diamine (preferably 1,6-diaminohexane, etc.). The polyamide resin is compounded with a filler (e.g., carbon black) to obtain the objective polyamide resin composition.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain an epoxy resin composition which can give a cured product excellent in heat resistance and water resistance and has a low modulus and suitable as a sealing material for semiconductors by using a trisphenol compound as a curing agent. CONSTITUTION:An epoxy resin composition is formed by adding, usually, 20-120 pts.wt., desirably, 40-80 pts.wt. trisphenol compound having at least three phenolic hydroxyl groups in the molecule, represented by formula I (wherein R and R are each H, a 1-12C aliphatic hydrocarbon group which may have an unsaturated group, a monocyclic or fused ring aryl, or a 3-6C alicyclic hydrocarbon group which may have a halogen atom or an unsaturated bond), e.g., 1-[alpha- methyl-alpha-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethyl]-4-[alpha,alpha-bis(4-hydroxypheny l)ethyl]benzene, as a curing agent to 100 pts.wt. epoxy resin (of an epoxy equivalent of 170-5000) especially of bisphenol A, AD or F type.
