Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound by reacting an alpha-olefin with cyclopentadiene or dicyclopentadiene and a norbornene in the presence of a specific high-boiling substance and to reuse a by-product as part of the raw material. CONSTITUTION:An alpha-olefin is reacted with cyclopentadiene(CPD) or dicyclopentadiene(DCPD) and a norbornene (RNB) or its hydrocarbon-substituted substance in the presence of a high-boiling substance having a higher boiling point than a tetracyclododecene to give the tetracyclododecene (RTD). In the reaction, a high-boiling substance prepared as a byproduct in the reaction is returned as it is to the reaction system and reused as part of the raw material. In the above-mentioned reactions, RNB is obtained by reaction between CPD and the alpha-olefin and RTD is obtained by reaction between CPD and RNB. Among high-boiling substances which are prepared as by-products by the reaction and are present in the reaction, tricyclopentadiene is thermally decomposed into CPD and DCPD, a Diels-Alder adduct (CPD/RTD) into CPD and RTD and DCPD is thermally decomposed into CPD.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain 1-pentene in high selectivity by codimerizing ethylene with propylene by means of a fixed bed method in the presence of a catalyst prepared by supporting an alkali metal on a compression molded granular carrier comprising anhydrous potassium carbonate and carbon. CONSTITUTION:Ethylene is codimerized with propylene in the molar ratio of 0.30-0.95 by a fixed bed method in the presence of a catalyst prepared by supporting alkali metals on a compression molded granular carrier comprising anhydrous potassium carbonate and carbon to give 1-pentene in a high productivity based on unit weight of the catalyst. The alkali metals consists of 20-90g atom % Na and 80-10g atom % K, the carrier contains 0.6-3wt.% carbon based on anhydrous K2CO3 and has 22-38% pore volume ratio and 1.5-15kg/cm compression strength. Anhydrous K2CO3 has 150-600mum average particle diameter and 0.50-0.70g/ml bulk density as raw powder before the compression molding.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce isopropanol in high yield and selectivity by supplying an acetone-containing raw material and hydrogen to a reactor having a fixed catalyst layer, subjecting the raw material to hydrogenation reaction and circulating a part of the liquid reaction mixture to the reactor at a specific circulation ratio. CONSTITUTION:A raw material mixture containing acetone and a circulated liquid reaction mixture are introduced through an inlet 11 and hydrogen is introduced through an inlet 12 into a reactor 1 and made to react with each other on a fixed catalyst layer 2 (e.g. Raney Ni) to obtain a reaction mixture containing isopropanol. The reaction mixture is extracted through an outlet 13 and introduced into a gas liquid separator 5. A part of the separated liquid is circulated through a line 7 (the circulation ratio is 1/1 to 1/30) and the remaining part of the liquid is passed through a degasifier 18 and a filter 20 to obtain the objective compound. The gaseous material separated by the gas liquid separator 5 is cooled by a heat-exchanger 21 and the liquefied component is transferred through a valve 24. A part of the remaining gaseous component is circulated through a line 22 and the remaining part is sent to the degasifier 18 through a valve 27.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare the titled compound useful as an intermediate for the preparation of medicines, etc., in high yield, with suppressing the production of by-products, by reacting an unsaturated ketone with an ozone-containing gas in the presence of a nitrogen-containing organic salt and a radical chain terminator. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound, alpha-ketocarboxylic acid, can be prepared either by reacting an alpha,beta-unsaturated ketone with an ozone-containing gas in the presence of a radical chain terminator such as a compound having OH group bonded to aromatic nucleus (e.g. hydroquinone) and a nitrogen-containing organic compound such as an amine, pyridine, etc., or by decomposing an ozonide obtained by the reaction of an alpha,beta-unsaturated ketone and an ozone-containing gas, in the presence of a nitrogen-containing organic compound. The amount of the radical chain terminator is 0.0001-10mol, pref. 0.001-5mol, based on 1mol of the starting unsaturated ketone or the produced ozonide.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title substance by a simple device, simply and in high yield by feeding acetone and a hydrogen gas from the top of a reactor of fixed bed type, making the gas and the liquid into dropping flows, forming a catalytic layer into a trickle bed state and carrying out reaction. CONSTITUTION:In obtaining isopropanol by catalytically hydrogenating acetone, H2 and acetone are fed from the top of a reactor of fixed bed type, the liquid and the gas are made into dropping flows, a catalytic layer is formed into a trickle bed state and reaction is carried out at 35-150 deg.C under 2-50kg/cm and at molar ratio of H2 gas/acetone of 1.2-5. The trickle bed state means a state wherein a catalyst is packed into an atmosphere filled with the H2 gas and a reaction solution is dripped on the surface thereof, H2 molecules are readily adsorbed on the catalyst and the trickle bed state has important influence on the reaction. In the above-mentioned method, complicated catalyst separation operation and complex operation procedures are not required and the aimed substance can be obtained at high reaction rate.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To adsorb and recover organic substance accompanying off-gas by cooling said oxidized off-gas, condensing and introducing into filled vessel of fibrous activated charcoal under pressure in obtaining terephthalic acid by using acetic acid as solvent and oxidizing paraxylene in liquid phase by oxygen. CONSTITUTION:In a process obtaining terephthalic acid by oxidizing paraxylene with molecular oxygen-containing gas under the condition of high temperature and pressure in acetic acid solvent and in the presence of oxidative catalyst containing Co compound, Mn compound and Br compound, off-gas containing organic substance is cooled and condensable component is condensed, then introduced into filled vessel of fibrous activated charcoal at 2.5-50kg/cm G, organic substance is adsorbed and recovered, thus re-used. The fibrous activated charcoal may be a material made from any of various fibers such as rayon, polyacrylonitrlie, regenerated cellulose or polyvinyl alcohol, phenol resin or coal pitch, etc., and organic substance is effectively adsorbed, therefore, the equipment is able to be miniaturized.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To recover germanium dioxide as high-purity GeO2 excellent in hue, by hydrolyzing an ethylene glycol soln. contg. Ge to deposit GeO2 and bringing this crude GeO2 into contact with O2-contg. gas at high temp. CONSTITUTION:A Ge-contg. ethylene glycol soln. produced in the producing process of polyester is added with water to hydrolyze it and Ge compd. contained in this soln. is deposited as germanium dioxide (GeO2). Obtained crude GeO2 is brought into contact with O2-contg. gas at high temp. and organic materials incorporated in crude GeO2 are burned and removed to obtain GeO2. Crude GeO2 is brought into contact with O2-contg. gas at high temp. of 650-1,000 deg.C. GeO2 recovered by such a way can be recycled and used as a catalyst for producing polyester.
