    Abstract: PURPOSE:To optionally control the vaporization direction of metal at the time of forming a vapor-deposited metallic film on a substrate by arranging the substrate, a metallic body as the anode and a long-sized vaporizable metallic body as the cathode in a vacuum vessel, applying a DC current between the anode and cathode to generate an arc discharge and vaporizing the metal from the cathode. CONSTITUTION:A conductor 10 is provided at a position 10-50mm from a vaporizable metallic body 3 and confronted with the metallic body 3. A current in the opposite direction to the current flowing through the metallic body 3 is applied to the conductor 10. Consequently, a strong magnetic field is generated between the cathode 3 and conductor 10, an arc for vaporizing the metal from the cathode 3 is generated on the weak magnetic field side, namely on the opposite side of the conductor 10, and more metal is vaporized on this side. Namely, the vaporization direction of metal is optionally controlled, and a vapor-deposited film is selectively formed on a desired region.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make rapid cooling of a weld zone efficiently without disturbing welding arc by intercepting flow of jet of main cooling gas directed to the direction of a welding torch by auxiliary cooling gas. CONSTITUTION:Welding arc 17 is ignited between the welding torch 2 and a material 6 to be welded. A traveling truck 3 is run at the same time, and a weld bead 21 is formed. With running of the traveling truck 3, jet 18 of main cooling gas and jet 19 of auxiliary cooling gas are blown against the weld bead 21 which is in the state of high temperature immediately after welding. Out of jet 18 of the main cooling gas blown upon the bead 21, a flow directed to the welding torch 2 is intercepted by jet 19 of auxiliary cooling gas. Accordingly, highly efficient rapid cooling of the weld bead 21 becomes possible without disturbing the welding arc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the defect in the corner part of the contact peripheral part of materials to be joined and to weld surely said materials by forming the welding rod to the laid in the corner part of the materials to the diameter larger than the wire diameter in the straight part. CONSTITUTION:While plural materials 1, 2 to be joined are brought into contact with each other, a welding rod 3 is laid in the contact peripheral part X thereof and the wire rod in the corner R part of the material 2 is formed to a larger diameter D. The corner part R is melted by the current equivalent to the straight part of the material 2 to weld the materials 1, 2 to each other. The defect in the corner part in the contact peripheral part of the materials to be joined is prevented and the welding is surely accomplished.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To efficiently vacuum-deposit for a long period with stable arc discharge by preventing the deformation or fusion of a cathode tip part and the deformation of the cathode itself in a vacuum deposition method for forming a metal deposited film on the surface of a base material to be deposited by arranging the base material to be deposited, a metallic body as an anode and a long length metallic rod as the cathode in a vacuum vessel and arc discharging by impressing DC voltage between the anode and the cathode to evaporate the low m.p. metal from the cathode. CONSTITUTION: The arc discharge is executed by the use of the metallic rod composed of a high m.p. metal-made core material 41 and a low m.p. metal- made covering material 42 covering the side peripheral surface except its tip part 41A as the cathode 40. Since the cathode 40 is provided with the high m.p. metal-made core material, the cathode is high in rigidity and strength and free from the deformation. The tip part 41A is not deformed or fused since the high m.p. metal-made core material is exposed on the surface.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce an amorphous alloy having water repellency, antibacterial properties and corrosion resistance. CONSTITUTION:This amorphous alloy has a compsn. contg., by atom, 15 to 30% Ta, 15 to 40% Cu, 20 to 51% Fe, 2 to 5% Ni and 6 to 14% Cr. A part or the whole body of Ta may be substituted by Ti, Nb, Zr or W. Furthermore, the apparatus for medical use is the one in which the same amorphous alloy coating film is formed. By 15 to 30% Ta, the alloy is amorphoustized, and moreover, by the formation of a uniform passivated film by Ta, remarkably high corrosion resistance can be obtd. Ta is furthermore excellent in the effect of improving its water repellency. By 15 to 40% Cu, remarkably good antibacterial properties can be obtd., and by the balance austenitic stainless steel compsn., the amorphous alloy having remarkably high hardness can be obtd. By adopting the austenitic stainless steel compsn., the amt. of expensive Ta to be blended is suppressed to a minimum, and the inexpensive amorphous alloy can be produced.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase the coating efficiency of a coated film by performing arc discharge while attaching and detaching an anode composed of metallic body and a cathode composed of evaporable metallic body to and from each other in a vacuum vessel, and coating the surface of a resin molded body with metal. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a resin molded body 4 is coated with a metallic film capable of electrostatic coating. At this time, a metallic body and an evaporable metallic body are used as an anode 2 and a cathode 3 disposed in a vacuum vessel 1, respectively. A D.C. voltage is impressed on the anode 2 and the cathode 3 by means of a power unit 13, and arc discharge is performed while attaching and detaching both electrodes 2,3 to and from each other in the vacuum vessel 1. By the above procedure, the metal evaporated from the cathode 3 can be formed as a film on the surface of the resin molded body 4 in the vacuum vessel 1. By this method, the film reduced in surface resistance value can be provided.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the fine wire for a discharge electrode which uniformizes electrostatic charge or destaticizing characteristics at a relatively low cost by coating the surface of the fine wire with an amorphous alloy contg. tantalum. CONSTITUTION:The electrolytically polished tungsten or stainless steel is selected for the fine wire 1 to constitute the core material of the discharge electrode and a sputtered layer 2 consisting of the amorphous alloy constituting the coating layer is formed on the surface thereof. The alloy essentially consisting of the tantalum set at 10 to 70atm% content is preferably used as the amorphous alloy. The generation of a change in properties and deterioration on the surface of the fine wire 1 is suppressed in this way and the adhesion of the products to the surface is obviated. The uniform electrostatic charge and destaticizing characteristics are thus maintained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a metal made solid with good accuracy, extremely high strength and excellent heat resistance by stacking a bead further on the bead formed by moving a welding torch by profiling to the sectional shape of an automating shape body and repeating this process. CONSTITUTION:The substrate 2 earthed along the bottom face of a container 1 is arranged and the flux 3 for welding in a sand shape is spread uniformly in the necessary thickness on said substrate 2. The torch 10 at the tip of a welding robot 9 is inserted into the flux 3, discharged in the space with the substrate 2 and a bead 12 is formed on the substrate 2 by melting a welding wire 11. The flux 3 is then spread so as to cover it on the bead 12 by an automatic scraper 8. The torch 10 tip is thereafter inserted in to the newly spread flux 3 and a bead 13 is newly formed on the bead 12. The aim-shape body is formed as the laminating body of the beads 12, 13... by repeating this series process. As a result the obtd. forming body, i.e., a metal made solid has less contraction at its hardening time and a good accuracy.
